Immoral Panic: A Video Nasty Compendium is the culmination of several years of passionate work, starting when I was just a young 16-year-old when I discovered just what the term ‘video nasty’ meant. All these years later, with a bursting-at-the-seams film collection, tons of critical work and research, I’ve managed to achieve what I set out to do: create a comprehensive encyclopedia of everything video nasty-related!

Showcased below are just some of the features to look forward to:

In-depth analysis and exploration of every film, including alternative titles, cast, crew, taglines, posters, screenshots, current UK release status and icons to link to other sections of the book.

An exhaustive breadth of content, including coverage of every film related to the scandal; the initial 72 headline nasties, the 82 ‘Section 3’ titles, as well as an additional 28 films that were caught in-between the police’s overzealous raids.

An exploration of the moral panic from the very early rumblings in the media to the police raids to the enactment of the Video Recordings Act 1984, with excerpts from newspaper headlines of the time.

An evaluation of each genre that the nasties embodied, with a historical summary of the genre’s origins, notable entries, recurring tropes and features and a list of the nasties within that genre.

An exhaustive cast & crew section, covering each actor, director or crew member that was in more than one of the so-called nasties, delving into their available history, personal information and other filmography.

An index of the releasing companies that were held responsible for unleashing the nasties on British audiences, briefly touching on their history as well as their other releases and future beyond the scandal.

And many more bonuses upon release!
