Mausoleum | 1983 | USA | Michael Dugan

After the release of The Exorcist in 1973, possession-related horrors became wildly lucrative and popular throughout the remainder of the decade. Quite late to the party is Mausoleum, which stars Bobbie Bresee as Susan Nomed, a young girl who encounters a strange mausoleum which she feels compelled to enter after the recent death of her mother. Many years later as a grown woman, Susan reaches her 30th birthday and begins to exhibit strange behaviours, concerning her aunt Cora and husband Oliver. As people around Susan begin to notice her demonic transformation and violent tendencies, it becomes a race against time to stop the Nomed’s family curse forever. Laughably silly at times with some intense ‘80s gel lights, cheap make-up and poor writing, the film nevertheless manages some impressive gore effects including a memorable set of demonic breasts with teeth. The combination of said boobs with violent results may have been the trigger for the film’s inclusion on the lists.
